A Word from Seattle Bible Colleges President Dr. Dan Hammer.
I have been involved in Seattle Bible College for 44 of my 70 years. Currently I am the president of Seattle Bible College. I received my Bachelor of Theology in 1981 from Seattle Bible College. From 1984 to 2023 I have been teaching here for the last forty years.
One of the joys of being involved in the school is to see how God has equipped people from all over the world. The testimonies of the lives that have been changed is phenomenal. God is so good in what He has done in the 68 years of its existence. Many pastors, missionaries, businesspeople and the like have been released all over the world.
The school has always been anchored in the Word of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Since 1955 when the school was started by Pastor Roy Johnson and Philadelphia Church that has been the hallmark of the school. Over the years students have encountered the presence of God.
I would like to encourage you to come to the school and take some classes to grow in Christ and develop your gifting and call. People that prepare themselves are used by God. We would love to have you join the school. Various types of classes are offered each quarter. We would look to train you in your calling to move forward and be prepared. Come and join us. We have in person and online classes and campuses in different parts of the world.
A Testimony from Seattle Bible Colleges Dean, Dr. Kathleen M. Troll
It was the grace of God that I came to know Jesus as my Savior at 13, a time when I saw no purpose to live. Like many families, mine was very dysfunctional and I tried to keep a low profile, keep to my studies, and keep peace between four siblings and parents whose life revolved around alcohol. I had no knowledge of the Bible, and I had no idea if there was a God or how to reach Him if He existed. I reasoned that I would somehow have to get his attention.
At 13, while visiting my relative’s ranch in Montana, I was asked to ride one of their horses. I really wanted to impress my family that I could do it. The next thing I knew I woke up in the hospital with a concussion and broken arm. The horse had thrown me onto a pile of lumber, and I was knocked unconscious. The first thought that came to me while in the hospital was the thought that maybe I had God’s attention. Several months later our family moved, and I was enrolled in a new school. Within several weeks a girl befriended me and invited me to come to her church. Although I stalled for several months before attending, I finally said yes and shortly after that went forward during a service to receive the Lord as my Savior. At 19, I was water baptized and have continued my journey with the Lord until this day.
Christ has meant everything to me and after receiving a degree in education, I soon realized the importance of educating the whole person, especially in an environment whose focus is Jesus Christ. And over the course of 30 years, I have had the privilege to teach and administrate in Christian schools, teaching the Bible and praying for hundreds of students.
I came to Seattle Bible College to earn a master’s degree in Servant Leadership. I wanted to continue to learn and prepare for further ministry here and abroad. After completing my master’s degree, I went on to earn a Doctor of Transformational Leadership at Bakke Graduate University as I saw the need to help other leaders learn and develop in their calling. There is a great need today to train and mentor this generation in the Word and in the Sprit. I believe teens whether in high school or just graduating should commit to at least one full year of Bible training, so they have a firm foundation for life and for their career choice. It has been said that those going into the ministry without Bible training will likely last only 7 years before leaving the ministry, as they are unprepared. Seattle Bible College offers many degrees including one-year certificates, associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and a master’s degree. Since 1955, Seattle Bible College has trained thousands who have gone into ministry all over the world and now train students from all over the world-Nepal, Brazil, Chile, Kenya, Tanzania, Thailand, Malaysia, Burma, Liberia, Nigeria, Congo, and Canada. If you or someone you know is interested in more training, go to seattlebiblecollege.edu for more information and to register for 2024 Winter quarter.
