Blow Wind Blow a Poem by Joyce Olsen

“Grand Old Flag” colored pencil by Raisa Estrada

Tightly furled on a windless day, unwieldy atop the pole you lay.

Stars and stripes nondescript, hidden within the folds of dormancy.

Where is the wind that extols your purpose,

The statement you display when flowing free and unfurled?

Blow wind, blow, awaken dormancy. Restore the flow of unrestrained liberty,

Returning stars and stripes to full display, unbridled on the pole to freely wave.

Likewise Holy Spirit, breathe fresh wind to awaken me from complacency.

May your purpose be restored while in your freedom, unencumbered, I flow.
